Online Somatic & Arts Therapy
Move beyond the pressure to be ‘good’, reconnect to yourself and find joy in life again.
Remember a time when life felt easier…
When joy felt more familiar
you didn’t second-guess yourself
and you weren’t constantly holding everything together…
As a deeply caring, highly sensitive women - that sense of ease became replaced by pressure…
Pressure to be capable. Kind. Responsible. Successful.
To be the “good one.”
For many of us, this pattern started early - learning to gauge others, keep the peace, and meet others’ needs in order to feel safe or accepted.
Over time, this leaves us: exhausted, anxious, resentful—or quietly disconnected from who we are.
I’m Joanne Deaker
I help deeply caring, highly sensitive women gently untangle long-held patterns of over-responsibility, self-doubt, and emotional exhaustion…
so they can reconnect with themselves and stop looking outside of themselves for permission to be who they are.
Together, we:
uncover the root of repeating patterns
understand your nervous system responses
work with stored emotional tension in the body
and rebuild trust in yourself from the inside out
This work isn’t about pushing through change…
it’s about creating safety within — so change feels steady, sustainable and truly yours.
Why this approach is different
Most approaches to personal change focus on talking things through, or staying at the level of insight. That can leave you feeling like you understand yourself—but still find yourself stuck in the same patterns.
I know that real change happens when we work with your whole system (your body, emotions, and nervous system) - not just your thoughts.
I also know that:
lasting change happens when we work at the root of patterns, not just the surface
your experience is unique, so everything is tailored to you
you can build the capacity to support yourself in your own life, with the right tools
Through somatic and arts-based therapy techniques, you’ll learn how to…
Create safety within yourself, release held tension, and reconnect with your own inner knowing — so you can begin responding to life in a different way.
I am dedicated to helping you feel grounded, empowered, and more fully present in your life so you can feel joy again.
I understand because I’ve been there
My training in somatic and arts therapy gives me the foundation to guide this work with care and skill.
But qualifications are only part of the story.
You also want to know you’re working with someone who understands what it feels like when life feels unfamiliar, overwhelming, or is quietly unravelling.
I understand that place.
I know what it feels like to question:
Who am I now?
When life has become relentlessly busy and you feel exhausted beneath it all.
When relationships you once relied on shift or fall away.
When your old beliefs no longer feel solid.
When you realize you’ve been living for everyone else — and aren’t sure what’s truly yours.
I've lived through:
a deeply ingrained pattern of self-abandonment - the 'Good Girl Syndrome',
the end of a long term marriage & estrangement from an adult child,
the deaths of both my parents,
the transition into an empty nest
major career changes
and loss of faith in systems I once trusted
So when we work together, you won’t just be working with a trained therapist/coach, you’ll be working with someone who understands that rebuilding takes courage and that…
Feeling safe within yourself is what allows life to open back up to joy again.
